Nigeria: Secondary schools in north-east Nigerian state 'to reopen' after two years

Secondary schools in the north-east Nigerian state of Borno, which has been at the epicentre of the Boko Haram insurgency, are set to reopen next week, the Premium Times is reporting. They have been closed for two years since a school was attacked in neighbouring Yobe state in March 2014.
The state's education minister Inuwa Kubo said that up to now the schools had been used to house some of the people displaced by the Islamist militants.

More than 200 female students were kidnapped while sitting a school exam in the Borno town of Chibok in April 2014.
Their abduction launched the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.
It is not clear if the Chibok girls' secondary school will reopen.

Gabon: Ping or Bongo? The agony of choice for Gabon leader's sister

In the ongoing post-electoral crisis in Gabon, one particular woman has found herself walking a tight rope, the French magazine Jeune Afrique reports.

Pascaline Bongo was the chief of staff to President Omar Bongo, the father of the current president

And that woman is Pascaline Bongo, the sister of incumbent President Ali Bongo and ex-lover of his main challenger, Jean Ping, with whom she has had a child.
As the uncertainty over the electoral outcome continues, the Paris-based Jeune Afrique newspaper dedicated a piece to what it describes as Pascaline Bongo's difficult choice.
Miss Bongo had struggled with making a decision over whether to support her brother or her ex-lover. Ultimately she chose not to back either one.

Football: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he will not pick Yaya Toure until his agent apologises for criticising the decision to leave the player out.

Toure, 33, has made one appearance for City this season and he was left out of the Champions League squad.
His agent, Dimitri Seluk, claimed the midfielder had been "humiliated", and Guardiola said: "Seluk must apologise. If he doesn't, he [Toure] won't play."
But Seluk told BBC Sport: "What do I need to apologise for?"
He added: "He should speak to Yaya. Yaya is doing his job.

Pep Guardiola - Man City manager
"We will see what happens. His contract expires at the end of the season and in January he will be free to go."
Guardiola, who was Barcelona boss when Toure was sold to City in 2010, said of the player: "It was so difficult for me to put him out of the Champions League, so difficult. I know him, I know he's a good good guy.
"But the day after his manager [Seluk] spoke. In that moment Yaya is out.
"I cannot accept as a coach, when his player doesn't play, going to the media to speak and speak and speak."
Dimitry Seluk Engineered Yaya's move from Barcelona to man City but Yaya wishes to retire in Nou Camp

He said Seluk did not have the "courage" to call him but said Seluk could always apologise via the media. "When that happens Yaya will be part of the group and he will have the same chance to play all the games."
It is understood the first Toure knew of his manager's stance against playing him was when he announced it at Tuesday's news conference.
Guardiola was speaking soon after Toure announced his international retirement.
Having made his debut for the Ivory Coast in 2004, Toure won 113 international caps, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.
"Writing this note was probably 'the most difficult match of my life'," he said in a statement.

Yaya has always been a great player with Man City

"After 14 years at the highest level, I'm sure this is the right time for me."
Meanwhile, City captain Vincent Kompany could make his first appearance of the season in Wednesday's League Cup third-round tie at Swansea.
"He has trained a lot and he will be ready and be part of the group and compete with other central defenders to win his position," said Guardiola.

Benin: President Patrice Talon humiliates Bolloré in Benin

H.E Patrice Talon, President of Benin
Patrice Talon to Bolloré: "The Port of Cotonou is not for Sale .... "

After many years of love and passion between Vincent Bolloré and the government of President Boni Yayi, the French industrial group is no longer in the good books of the Benin.
These are the reactions of Patrice Talon during an interview with Monde Afrique
"It is not with a few solar panels, a playground and a handful of mini buses that will convince me". The Port of Cotonou is not for sale. A port is the heart of an economy for countries like ours, we cannot entrust the complete management to the West. If need be, we will favor national or African operators.
I do not criticize those who did, but we will not, at least not in my mandate. If he wants to be eligible to control the port, he should partner with nationals who should own at least 45%. He did not fund my campaign, and I do not owe him anything".

Boni Yayi and his good Friend, Bollore
"For railway, we are required to find a solution that boosts the project and which respects the right of everyone. Mr. Samuel Dossou is in the right path, he is from Benin and I protect Benin". This was during an held by the Monde Afrique with the newly elected president of Benin - Patrice Talon. These words have certainly left the Bolloré team thinking. A team which has since November 2015,  engaged a judicial war against Benin billionaire Samuel Dossou. At the head of Petrolin group, it believes he owns the rights to the

railway being developed by the Bolloré group between Cotonou and Abidjan. What his competitor(Bollore) is contesting. However, in a judgment delivered on 19 November, the Cotonou Court of Appeal ruled in favor of the Benin businessman and ordered a halt to work by Bolloré between Benin and Niger. Himself a businessman - the first elected President of a country in West Africa - Patrice Talon qualifies Samuel Dossou a "friend". In his interview he promotes his Benin compatriots?

The New Generation of African leaders seems to be embracing the Africapitalism philosophy of Tony Elumelu which promotes African entrepreneurs to excel in Africa.

Updates coming soon...

Child Brutally beaten to death in Yaounde by Househelp

This young boy names withheld was brutally beaten to death by a housemaid in Santa Barbara quarter in the capital city of Yaounde.

One this fateful day, the parents left the house help in the house in Santa Barbara Yaounde with the kids and went for sports. Later,  she called them to come home urgently that something had happened. When asked where she was calling from all she said was she didn't know, what was happening? the answer remained same.  She locked the door and was outside chasing the eldest child who ran into a nearby compound for safety. She went there and threatened the neighbors' children to release that one else she deals with them. One smart kid in that compound released their dog, it started barking and she dashed out.  That's how the other child was spared. She might have finished with the two.

What could this poor kid have done to deserve this? Like how can somebody exhibit this level of cruelty? If your going in for a job and you can’t do it wholeheartedly then don’t. Situations like this makes people skeptical about hiring maids.
